Yard Material Handler (Temp-to-Hire)

Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour (based on experience)
Schedule: Monday-Friday | 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM

Position Overview

We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Yard Material Handler to support daily steel yard operations. This role is responsible for loading, unloading, moving, and organizing structural steel materials while ensuring efficient material flow throughout the yard and production areas.

The ideal candidate will have experience operating forklifts and overhead cranes in an industrial environment and be comfortable working with large steel products.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently.
• Move, stage, and organize structural steel materials throughout the yard and facility.
• Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment.
• Verify material quantities, dimensions, and identification tags.
• Support shipping, receiving, and production teams by ensuring materials are available when needed.
• Inspect equipment prior to use and report any safety concerns.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Follow all company safety procedures and operational guidelines.

Qualifications

• Previous forklift experience required.
• Previous overhead crane experience preferred.
• Experience handling steel, metal products, or other heavy industrial materials preferred.
• Ability to read a tape measure and identify material sizes.
• Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments.
• Strong attention to safety and quality.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to lift, move, and work around heavy materials safely.

Hiring Requirements

• Drug screen required.
• Background check required.
• All candidates must complete an in-person interview and facility walkthrough prior to hire.
