Express Employment Professionals is hiring a Machine Operator Trainee for a manufacturing company in DeKalb, IL.

 

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with mechanical aptitude who wants to learn skilled machine operation and grow into a Machine Operator role. Previous experience is helpful but is not required for candidates who demonstrate strong mechanical ability, reliability, and a willingness to learn.

What You'll Do

The Machine Operator Trainee will learn to operate and support equipment used to manufacture plastic materials into finished products.

Key Responsibilities

Machine Operation & Setup

• Learn to safely operate assigned production equipment.
• Assist with and learn machine setups and changeovers.
• Monitor equipment during production and work toward established cycle-time and production goals.
• Identify machine or production issues and communicate problems to the appropriate supervisor or maintenance personnel.
• Help minimize machine downtime through efficient operation and setup practices.

Quality & Production

• Monitor finished products to ensure they meet established quality and customer specifications.
• Inspect products for defects or inconsistencies.
• Assist with packing, packaging and palletizing finished products as required.
• Follow production specifications and established procedures.
• Work to maximize material efficiency and minimize scrap.

Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Learn and perform prescribed daily and weekly equipment maintenance.
• Inspect machine components such as fluid levels, filters, hoses, valves and cylinders when appropriate and safe to do so.
• Assist with basic troubleshooting of equipment and production issues.
• Report equipment conditions and needed repairs to supervision or maintenance.

• Ability to follow detailed work instructions, specifications and safety procedures.
• Good attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
• Ability to identify defects and recognize when equipment is not operating properly.
• Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Dependable attendance and ability to work as part of a production team.
• Previous machine operation, manufacturing, plastics or thermoforming experience is a plus but not required.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to:

• Stand and walk for extended periods during the workday.
• Frequently use hands and arms to operate equipment, handle materials and inspect finished products.
• Perform repetitive hand and arm movements.
• Bend, reach and stoop while working around production equipment.
• Maintain the manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination necessary for machine operation, product inspection and material handling.
• Safely handle production materials and finished products.
• Work in a manufacturing environment around operating production machinery.

Schedule

Full-time manufacturing position.

Monday through Friday 3:30p - 1:00a and Saturdays 10:00a - 3:00p

Pay

Starting pay: $17.00/ hour. After a training period of 3-6 months, pay goes up to $17.50. 

This is a training position with the opportunity to develop hands-on machine-operation skills and advance as proficiency and experience are gained.
