Quality Assurance Technician (Seafood)

Basic Function:
Perform routine quality testing and monitoring of:
1) Incoming raw materials
2) In-line production/product
3) Finished products
4) Plant sanitation/GMPs
Keep accurate records of all monitoring and test results. Promptly report any non-compliance with established company standards to UCS Production and QA Supervisor, Leads and or Management when necessary.
Duties:
1) Perform routine QA and HACCP monitoring, record-keeping, reporting and associated activities, as established by existing Company and/or customer standards and specifications, including but not limited to finfish steaking, filleting, regrading and boxing; crab cutting, grading; roe processing, etc
2) Review QA monitoring/testing results for conformance to Company standards or customer standards and/specifications; promptly reporting any deviations from such standards to UCS Production and QA Supervisor, Leads and or Management when necessary.
3) Actively monitor in-line sanitation and employee GMPs;. Provide instructions to employees on proper sanitation and/sanitary food handling practices as necessary.
4) Perform non-routine QA monitoring tests for any special projects, as may be assigned by the QA Supervisor or General Manager, such as QA database development, quality and HACCP trend analysis, or reviewing QA or HACCP monitoring procedures
5) Perform routine inspections of warehouse spaces to verify compliance with sanitation, storage, and GMP standards; promptly report any deficiencies as necessary.
6) Other duties as assigned
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Must have good understanding of and working knowledge of algebra.
Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in related food processing environment. Must be able to work with minimal supervision and be able to work well with other department personnel.
Analysis & Creativity: Some minor analysis because of a variety of routines and application of standard practice
Organizing: Influenced by predictable events but with frequent changes, and considerable variations in work load. Must have excellent organizational skills, including written and oral communication skills
Working Conditions: Frequent (over 50%) exposure to undesirable elements, with several continuously present.
