Job Overview

One of our clients is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Assistant to support the Finance & Accounting team with daily accounting operations, reconciliations, financial reporting, and administrative activities. The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of practical accounting experience, strong Excel skills, and hands-on experience with accounting software and financial reconciliations. Familiarity with AI tools and automation to improve accounting processes is also required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the accounting team with day-to-day accounting activities and transaction processing.
  • Perform bank account and credit card reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and ensure accurate transaction recording.
  • Prepare vendor, customer, and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports, schedules, and Excel-based analyses.
  • Review, verify, and process accounting transactions.
  • Communicate with internal departments, vendors, financial institutions, and external stakeholders to resolve accounting-related issues.
  • Use accounting software, Microsoft Excel, AI tools, and automation to streamline routine processes.
  • Provide general administrative and operational support to the Finance & Accounting team.
  • Complete additional duties and ad hoc tasks as required.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • 3–5 years of practical accounting experience.
  • Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience using accounting software or ERP systems, such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar platforms.
  • Good understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping practices.
  • Hands-on experience with bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, including formulas, lookups, pivot tables, and data analysis.
  • Good understanding of AI tools, such as ChatGPT, Claude, or similar platforms, and their practical applications in accounting and reporting.
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to learn new software and systems quickly.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong English proficiency.
  • Professional interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, vendors, and external partners.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize workloads, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a multi-location, franchise, retail, or restaurant business.
  • Familiarity with accounting automation and digital document management systems.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience working with large datasets.
