Location: High Point, NC
Schedule: Monday–Friday | Approximately 7:30 AM or 8:00 AM–5:00 PM | 30-minute lunch

Express Employment Professionals is hiring an experienced CNC Machinist for a full-time opportunity in High Point. This skilled position involves operating CNC machining centers and/or turning centers, inspecting precision metal parts, and performing setup or programming duties based on demonstrated ability.
Candidates must have prior CNC machining experience within the metalworking trade. Strong blueprint reading, measurement, and quality inspection skills are essential.
Responsibilities

Operate CNC machining centers and/or CNC turning centers to produce metal parts according to job specifications.

Review blueprints, technical drawings, tolerances, and written work instructions before beginning production.

Set up machines, select cutting tools, and install fixtures and workholding devices according to experience and assigned responsibilities.

Load, unload, and properly position materials and workpieces.

Read and understand standard CNC programming code.

Enter, edit, or adjust programs according to part specifications and demonstrated programming ability.

Perform first-piece inspections to verify setup and part accuracy before continuing production.

Measure and inspect parts throughout production using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measuring instruments.

Monitor machine operation and make adjustments to maintain required dimensions, tolerances, and quality.

Identify and troubleshoot tooling issues, dimensional concerns, defects, and production problems.

Perform routine machine checks and report mechanical or operational concerns.

Maintain accurate production, inspection, and quality documentation.

Follow safety procedures and keep machines, tools, and work areas clean and organized.
Requirements & Qualifications

Previous CNC machining experience in the metalworking trade required.

Experience operating CNC machining centers and/or CNC turning centers.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and written work instructions.

Ability to read and understand standard CNC programming code.

Proficiency measuring and inspecting parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other basic measuring instruments.

Strong understanding of dimensions, tolerances, tooling, and quality requirements.

Setup experience strongly preferred and required for the higher pay range.

Programming or program-editing experience required for consideration within the setup and programming pay range.

Candidates should have their own basic hand tools and measuring instruments.

Mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot machining or quality concerns.

Strong attention to detail, dependable attendance, and the ability to work independently.

Flexibility to start earlier or remain later when department needs or production workload require it.
General machine operating experience outside of CNC metal machining does not meet the requirements for this position.
Physical Requirements

Stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout the shift.

Load, unload, and move materials and workpieces as required.

Perform hands-on machining, setup, and inspection tasks.

Work safely around metalworking machinery, cutting tools, and equipment.
Shift & Hours

1st Shift: Monday–Friday, approximately 7:30 AM or 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.

30-minute lunch.

Start and end times may occasionally change based on department needs and production workload.

Additional hours may be available based on workload.
Pay & Benefits
Starting pay is based on demonstrated experience, technical ability, and level of independence:

CNC Operator: $18.00–$22.00 per hour for candidates whose experience is focused on operation without setup or programming.

CNC Setup and Programming: $22.00–$32.00 per hour for candidates who demonstrate setup and programming ability.

Highly skilled machinists may qualify for additional compensation based on demonstrated ability.

Skills Demonstration
An in-person CNC skills demonstration at the worksite is required before a final hiring decision. Candidates will demonstrate applicable operating, setup, measurement, blueprint reading, and programming skills. This evaluation will help determine position eligibility and starting pay.
