Day shift | Springfield, IL | Up to $24/hour, based on experience

If you're a certified coder who likes seeing a claim through from chart note to payment, this is a good fit. A statewide health care association in Springfield needs a Medical Biller and Coder to turn encounter notes into clean, billable claims and to support the community health centers it serves. The environment is friendly, the days vary, and you'll have room to work independently and make decisions.

What You'll Do

• Review encounter notes, pull diagnoses, and code claims using ICD-10 (with a focus on young children, ages 0–3, with developmental delays)
• Set up each claim for billing to insurance companies
• Contact insurance companies by phone and follow up on open claims
• Check claims status on insurance and industry websites
• Join 1–2 virtual meetings as a consultant, answering questions and supporting community health centers

What You'll Bring

• Coding certificate (required)
• 2–3 years of coding experience, with hands-on ICD-10 coding (2 years minimum)
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Comfort with Outlook, Excel, Word, Availity, and payer portals (Passport a plus)
• Clear written and spoken communication, including on the phone with insurers
• Strong attention to detail
• A professional, well-spoken style, plus the confidence to ask questions and work on your own
