Shift: Mon - Fri 7am - 3:30pm

Position Summary

The Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for coordinating inbound and outbound freight, maintaining accurate shipment records, verifying freight documentation, and supporting daily warehouse and transportation operations. This position serves as a key liaison between drivers, customers, and warehouse personnel to ensure freight is received, processed, and dispatched efficiently while maintaining high levels of accuracy and customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and verify inbound shipments against bills of lading, packing slips, and shipping manifests.
  • Process outbound freight and ensure all shipping documentation is completed accurately.
  • Schedule and coordinate customer pickups and deliveries.
  • Enter shipment information into transportation management and warehouse systems.
  • Track incoming and outgoing freight and update shipment status as required.
  • Communicate with drivers regarding load assignments, delivery schedules, and freight discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and freight records.
  • Investigate and document damaged, missing, or overage freight.
  • Prepare shipping labels, manifests, and other transportation documents.
  • Assist with dock operations and freight movement as needed.
  • Coordinate with customers to resolve shipment issues and answer inquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies and transportation regulations.
  • File and maintain records in accordance with company retention requirements.
  • Support terminal operations during peak periods and provide administrative assistance as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous shipping, receiving, warehouse, transportation, or logistics experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of freight documentation, including Bills of Lading (BOLs) and shipping manifests.
  • Strong data entry and computer skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in both office and warehouse environments.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and reach as needed.
  • Ability to withstand varying warehouse temperatures.

Working Conditions

  • May require overtime, flexible scheduling, and occasional weekend work based on business needs.
