Lead Floor Care Technician

Express Employment Professionals is recruiting a Lead Floor Care Technician for a local mental health facility in Kitsap County. This position combines hands-on floor care responsibilities with day-to-day leadership of the floor care team. The Lead Floor Care Technician will help ensure facility floors are maintained to high standards while providing guidance, training, and support to Floor Care Technicians during after-hours operations.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with commercial floor care equipment including buffers, burnishers, waxers, strippers, auto-scrubbers, and carpet cleaning equipment and 3+ years of lead, supervisory, or team leadership experience.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily direction, guidance, and support to Floor Care Technicians
- Coordinate floor care assignments and project work throughout the facility
- Monitor quality standards and ensure work is completed according to facility expectations
- Train team members on floor care techniques, equipment operation, safety procedures, and proper chemical usage
- Assist with workflow coordination, staffing coverage, and daily task assignments
- Perform advanced floor care including stripping, waxing, sealing, burnishing, buffing, and refinishing hard surface floors
- Operate commercial floor care equipment including buffers, burnishers, waxers, auto scrubbers, and floor stripping machines
- Perform carpet cleaning and maintenance using approved methods and equipment
- Identify flooring deficient and recommend corrective action
- Monitor and maintain carpeted and hard surface flooring throughout the facility
- Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of custodial and floor care equipment
- Resond to spills, safety hazards, and urgent environmental services needs
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures, PPE requirements, and chemical handling standards
- Report equipment damage, facility concerns, security risks, and safety hazards
- Work independently while maintaining communication with management and team members
- Empty interior and exterior trash receptacles and transport refuse to designated disposal areas
- Maintain cleanliness of hallways, common areas, offices, workspaces, restrooms, and other facility areas
- Clean and disinfect surfaces in accordance with facility standards and safety procedures
- Stock custodial closets and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and paper products
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of floor care and custodial equipment
- Follow proper chemical handling procedures, safety regulations, and PPE requirements
- Report equipment issues, facility damage, safety concerns, or security risks to management
- Work independently while maintaining productivity and quality standards during after-hours operations
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 year of leadership experience
- 2+ years of hands-on experience operating commercial floor care equipment including buffers, waxers, strippers, burnishers, and auto-scrubbers
- Valid Washington State driver’s license
- Reliable transportation to and from work
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Dependable, punctual, and safety-conscious
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team when needed
- Ability to work independently and lead a team in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, or reach throughout an entire shift
- Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs. occasionally
- Ability to safely operate floor care machinery and custodial equipment
- Ability to work indoors and occasionally outdoors as needed
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment and work with approved cleaning chemicals
- Visual and auditory ability to perform inspections and safely operate equipment
Pay: $19.03-$22.69/hour DOE
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 4:00pm-12:00am
