Location: Olathe, KS
Pay: $20.00/hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM

Job Summary:
Express Employment Professionals is seeking a Machinist Level I for a manufacturing company in the Olathe, KS area. The Machinist will operate machine tools to produce precision metal parts while following blueprints, specifications, and established quality standards. This position is ideal for someone with previous machining or mechanical assembly experience who is comfortable working with measuring equipment and production machinery.

Essential Functions:

• Operate machine tools including saws, lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and grinders.

• Review blueprints, specifications, and work instructions for assigned jobs.

• Measure and mark workpieces to determine proper cuts, bores, and machining locations.

• Set up machines and tooling for production jobs.

• Select appropriate tools and materials for each job.

• Determine cutting speeds, feed rates, and amount of material to be removed.

• Change tooling, cutting tools, and saw blades as needed.

• Position and secure workpieces properly in machines.

• Monitor machine operation, feed rates, speeds, and cutting accuracy.

• Inspect completed work using measuring tapes, calipers, micrometers, and other inspection tools.

• Verify finished parts meet blueprint and specification requirements.

• Identify machine or tooling issues and make appropriate adjustments.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

• Follow all company safety procedures and required PPE guidelines.

• Maintain accurate production and quality records.

• Assist other departments as needed.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Previous machinist and/or mechanical assembly experience preferred.

• Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical specifications.

• Experience using calipers, micrometers, measuring tapes, and other precision measuring tools.

• Ability to perform machine setups and assist with setups for new jobs.

• Basic knowledge of machining processes, tooling, and manufacturing equipment.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work independently while maintaining quality and production standards.

• Ability to stand, bend, climb, and kneel throughout the shift.

• Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs.

• Must be comfortable working around machinery, noise, oils, solvents, and other materials commonly found in a manufacturing environment.

• CNC, manual machining, or precision machining certification is a plus.
