A precision manufacturing facility serving the aerospace, medical, computer, consumer products, industrial, and solar industries is seeking a highly qualified Lathe Operators to join its Chatsworth-based team. The organization operates under Lean Manufacturing principles, is AS9100D certified, and is fully ITAR compliant, delivering high-reliability components to regulated markets.
Summary: The Lathe Operator will be responsible for operating and monitoring CNC and/or conventional lathe equipment to produce precision components according to engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have strong machining experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a precision manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate lathe machinery to produce precision components.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
- Select and install appropriate tooling, fixtures, and cutting tools.
- Monitor machining operations and make adjustments as needed to maintain quality and dimensional accuracy.
- Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection equipment.
- Maintain required production rates while meeting strict quality specifications.
- Identify tooling, machine, or production issues and communicate concerns to supervisors or other appropriate personnel.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with Lean Manufacturing practices.
- Follow all company quality, safety, and production procedures.
- Complete required production and quality documentation.
- Comply with AS9100D, ITAR, and other applicable quality and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of lathe/machining experience.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Experience using precision measuring instruments.
- Knowledge of machining processes, cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and tolerances.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience in aerospace or other highly regulated precision manufacturing environments is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and AS9100 principles is a plus.
- Must be able to work in an ITAR-compliant manufacturing environment.
