Express Employment Professionals is seeking an experienced Supply Chain / Purchasing Manager for a local manufacturing client. This leadership role is ideal for a strategic, detail-oriented professional who excels at procurement, vendor management, contract negotiations, inventory planning, and driving operational efficiency.

Pay: $30,000-$40,000/year DOE

Position Summary

The Supply Chain / Purchasing Manager is responsible for developing and implementing purchasing strategies, procurement policies, and contract management procedures to support company growth and operational success. This role works closely with Engineering, Production, Project Management, IT, vendors, and customers to ensure materials and services are available when needed, at the best value, and with minimal disruption to operations.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Supply Chain Management

• Develop and implement purchasing strategies, policies, and procedures.
• Forecast procurement needs and monitor market trends, lead times, and shipping costs.
• Source domestic and international suppliers for materials, equipment, and services.
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, and supplier agreements to achieve cost savings and operational goals.
• Monitor inventory levels and purchasing requirements to ensure timely product availability.
• Review bid proposals and negotiate contracts within budget and approval authority.

Vendor & Contract Management

• Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders.
• Evaluate supplier performance, product quality, pricing, and delivery metrics.
• Ensure contract administration procedures are followed and executed professionally.
• Assist project managers with contract implementation, administration, and compliance.
• Obtain budgetary pricing for equipment and materials to support project estimates.

Leadership & Operations

• Supervise purchasing functions and provide guidance to procurement team members.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Production, IT, and Project Management teams to align procurement activities with production and project schedules.
• Manage procurement records, purchasing databases, and reporting systems.
• Address issues related to defective products, delayed shipments, or supplier performance and implement corrective actions.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiencies throughout the supply chain.

Qualifications

Required

• Associate Degree in Business, Engineering, Economics, Applied Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing procurement experience.
• Strong knowledge of purchasing, sourcing, contract administration, and supply chain operations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and purchasing/production database systems.
• Experience with project scheduling and budget management.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
• Experience supervising a purchasing department or procurement team.
• Knowledge of Six Sigma methodologies.
• Ability to read technical drawings; AutoCAD experience is a plus.
• Manufacturing and project-based procurement experience.
