Controller / Office Manager
Cashmere, WA | General Contracting / Construction | $90,000–$110,000 DOE | Full-Time, On-Site
Take ownership of the financial and administrative operations of a growing construction company.
Express Employment Professionals is partnering with a respected local construction company to identify an experienced Controller / Office Manager to join their team in Cashmere, WA.
This is a key leadership position for an accounting and operations professional who enjoys being hands-on, understands the financial side of construction, and wants to work closely with company ownership and project leadership.
The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting expertise, excellent organizational skills, and a solid understanding of job costing, project profitability, cash flow, billing, payroll, and construction financial reporting.
What You'll Do
Financial & Accounting Leadership

Oversee day-to-day accounting functions, including AP, AR, payroll, general ledger, and job costing.

Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

Manage cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning.

Monitor project costs, margins, and profitability in partnership with Project Managers.

Review invoices, expense reports, and vendor payments.

Coordinate year-end close and work closely with the company's CPA on tax filings and audits.

Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies.
Construction Accounting

Review job costing and cost-to-complete reports with Project Managers.

Monitor retainage, lien waivers, insurance certificates, and bonding requirements.

Oversee progress billing and change-order processes.

Provide project managers with financial reporting and budget-tracking support.

Ensure compliance with prevailing wage, certified payroll, and applicable labor requirements.
Office & Administrative Management

Oversee daily office operations and administrative staff.

Develop and improve office procedures, systems, and workflows.

Manage contracts, subcontracts, and project documentation.

Maintain employee records and support hiring, onboarding, benefits, and other HR processes.

Manage the company's 401(k) plan and related reporting.

Support accounting, project management, payroll, and other business software systems.
Leadership & Strategic Support

Provide financial insight and recommendations directly to ownership.

Assist with long-term financial planning and company growth initiatives.

Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, efficiency, and profitability.

Serve as a trusted financial and administrative resource for ownership and field leadership.
What We're Looking For
Required:
-
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

5+ years of accounting or financial management experience.

Strong understanding of job cost accounting and construction financial practices.

Experience with accounting software and advanced Excel skills.

Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

Excellent attention to detail and follow-through.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Professionalism, discretion, sound judgment, and integrity.
Preferred:
-
Experience working for a general contractor or subcontractor.

CPA or CMA designation.

Experience with construction contracts, bonding, retainage, and project billing.

Previous supervisory or office management experience.
