School Bus Driver

Duties and Responsibilities

School Bus Drivers are responsible for safely transporting students to and from school and related events, ensuring their well-being while aboard the bus, and maintaining order and discipline among passengers.

 

• Conducting daily inspections of the bus to ensure it is safe and well-maintained
• Driving students to and from school in accordance with a set schedule and route
• Following all traffic and corporation regulations to ensure student safety
• Managing student behavior and report any issues to the school administration
• Assisting students with getting on and off the bus, and crossing the street when necessary
• Keeping the bus clean and free of trash
• Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of bus evacuation procedures
• Administering first aid or emergency assistance when needed
• Communicating with parents, teachers, and administrators regarding any student concerns
• Completing reports regarding bus incidents, delays, or accidents

 

Qualifications

• Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL -- WITH S ENDORSEMENT)
• Must be over the age of 21
• Experience driving a bus or other similar vehicle
• Ability to remain calm in stressful driving situations (e.g. at rush hour)
• A clean driving record
• Ability to pass a background check
• Physical health and stamina to work long hours
• Excellent vision and good hearing
• Patient, responsible, and reliable
