Hospital Check-In Clerk (Medical Receptionist)

Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

• Welcome and assist patients, visitors, and healthcare providers in a professional and courteous manner.
• Register patients accurately and efficiently using EPIC EMR software.
• Verify patient demographics, insurance information, and required documentation.
• Schedule, confirm, and update patient appointments as needed.
• Collect co-pays and process patient payments according to established procedures.
• Answer multi-line phone systems and direct calls appropriately.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
• Update patient records and ensure all information is accurate and complete.
• Coordinate with nursing staff, physicians, and other departments to facilitate patient flow.
• Resolve patient questions and concerns while providing excellent customer service.
• Perform general clerical and administrative duties including scanning, filing, and document management.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a hospital, healthcare facility, medical office, or physician practice required.
• Hands-on experience with EPIC Electronic Medical Records (EMR) software is required.
• Strong knowledge of patient registration and insurance verification processes.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
• Strong attention to detail and data entry accuracy.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and general computer applications.
• Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines and patient confidentiality standards preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
