Position Summary

The Welder/Fabricator is responsible for fabricating, repairing, and modifying metal components, machinery, and production equipment to support manufacturing operations. This position requires proficiency in MIG and Stick welding, blueprint reading, metal fabrication, and the safe operation of fabrication equipment. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, quality-focused, and capable of working independently or as part of a maintenance team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Perform MIG and Stick welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and other metals.

· Fabricate machine guards, platforms, racks, fixtures, carts, handrails, and structural components.

· Repair production equipment and plant machinery through welding and metal fabrication.

· Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and measurements accurately.

· Lay out, cut, fit, and assemble fabricated components to specification.

· Operate fabrication equipment including:

o Band saws

o Ironworkers

o Drill presses

o Grinders

o Plasma cutters

o Oxy-fuel cutting equipment

o Chop saws

o Forklifts (if certified)

· Use precision measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, squares, and levels.

· Install fabricated components and verify proper fit and function.

· Perform field welding and repairs throughout the facility as needed.

· Maintain a clean and organized work area while following all safety procedures.

· Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality standards.

· Assist the maintenance department with equipment installations, preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs when required.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

· High school diploma or GED preferred.

· Welding and fabrication experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.

· Proficient in MIG and Stick welding.

· Ability to fabricate from drawings or verbal instructions.

· Experience working with structural steel, sheet metal, tubing, and plate.

· Ability to operate common fabrication and welding equipment safely.

· Strong attention to detail and workmanship.

· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements

· Frequently lift up to 50 pounds.

· Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb throughout the workday.

· Work in hot, cold, dusty, and noisy industrial environments.

· Use required personal protective equipment (PPE), including welding helmet, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots.

· Ability to safely operate power tools and welding equipment.

Work Environment

This position works primarily in an industrial manufacturing facility and may require occasional outdoor work. The employee will regularly be exposed to welding fumes, sparks, moving machinery, loud noise, and varying temperatures. Proper PPE is required at all times.
