Pay: $40.00–$50.00 hour (DOE)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. (Weekends & Overtime: occasional, based upon business need)

Job Summary: Reporting to the General Manager, The Weld Shop Foreman is responsible for assigning Welders to specific work and for making sure they understand the assigned tasks for both new production and refurbishment jobs.  The Weld Shop Foreman ensures each Welder follows the quality and raw material requirements, in addition to applicable drawings and written job instructions.  The job requires oversight into the safe set up of parts and monitoring quality when each job is underway.  The Weld Shop Foreman coordinates with managers, engineers, and the Quality Control Department to ensure the flow of finished product is moved to the next step in the anticipated amount of time. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Sets up raw or semi-finished material for various workstations.
• Performs internal quality control of welds, gouging, metal filling, and associated procedures.
• Ensures that material, such as weld rods, are stored properly according to quality procedures.
• Interacts with engineering, production management, and quality personnel to ensure procedures are understood and quality requirements are followed.
• Organizes and assigns shop jobs and personnel to meet production priorities and established deadlines.
• Ensures personnel are working and recording time under the correct job, monitors job progress and productivity, addresses delays or performance concerns, and holds employees accountable for timely and accurate completion of assigned work.
• Delegates responsibility for preventative maintenance on all equipment operated
• Inspects finished product.
• Ensure that defects are corrected.
• Verifies welders and fitters perform assigned tasks in a safe manner (using the correct ventilation, respiratory protection, and eye protection), avoiding all unsafe practices, and abides by hazardous and universal waste requirements.
• Coordinates integrity testing according to quality and engineering requirements.
• Interacts with general manager, other supervisors, and office staff to ensure good production flow and timing.

 

Qualifications:

• Must have a minimum of 5 years welding supervisory work-related experience.
• Must have experience with the following types of welding; Stick (with and without flux, and flux cored rods), MIG (metal inert gas), TIG (tungsten inert gas), gas tungsten arc (heli-arc), sub-arc, and submerged arc. 
• Must have ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, weld symbols, blueprints, and fabrication specifications.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of the fabrication of shell-and-tube heat exchangers, pressure vessels, or other custom-engineered equipment.
• Working knowledge of applicable ASME codes and standards, specifically Section VIII and IX.
• Strong understanding of shop safety requirements and the ability to enforce safe work practices.
• Weekends & Overtime: occasional, based upon business need
• Temp-to-hire position 
• PPE required: Steel toe boots, safety glasses, etc.
