Machine Maintenance Technician
Location: Grimes, IA
Pay: $30–$40 per hour, based on experience
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 1st Shift

Express Employment Professionals is recruiting a Maintenance Technician for an established manufacturing company in the Grimes area. This is a permanent, first-shift opportunity for a hands-on technician who enjoys troubleshooting equipment, solving mechanical problems, and keeping a production facility running smoothly.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical equipment issues
• Troubleshoot small engines, small motors, AC/DC motors, wiring, switches, relays, and related components
• Perform preventative and predictive maintenance
• Repair or replace defective parts and test equipment after repairs
• Maintain production equipment, conveyors, HVAC, compressed-air systems, and related machinery
• Read equipment manuals, blueprints, schematics, and manufacturer specifications
• Contact equipment manufacturers/OEMs for technical support and troubleshooting assistance
• Use hand tools, power tools, drill presses, grinders, and other maintenance equipment
• Coordinate outside repair services and order replacement parts when needed
• Follow all company, OSHA, and plant safety procedures

Qualifications

• Previous mechanical, electrical, automotive, industrial, or equipment-maintenance experience
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
• Experience with small engines, small motors, or electrical systems
• Understanding of the difference between AC and DC motors
• AC motor experience is highly preferred
• Ability to diagnose unfamiliar equipment using manuals, diagrams, and OEM support
• Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, PLCs, or VFDs is a plus
• Technical certificate or equivalent hands-on experience preferred
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and bend, kneel, squat, reach, push, and pull as needed
• Dependable, safety-minded, and able to reprioritize when urgent equipment issues arise
