Food Service Worker

Position Summary

The Food Service Worker is responsible for providing safe, courteous, and efficient food service to patients, visitors, and staff. This position supports daily food preparation, meal assembly, tray delivery, sanitation, and maintaining a clean and organized food service environment while following hospital food safety and infection-control standards.

Essential Responsibilities

• Prepare, portion, assemble, and serve food and beverages according to established procedures.

• Assemble patient meal trays according to specific meal orders and dietary requirements.

• Deliver and collect patient meal trays while providing friendly and professional customer service.

• Follow food safety, sanitation, infection-control, and workplace safety procedures.

• Clean and sanitize food service equipment, work areas, dishes, utensils, and dining areas.

• Stock food, beverages, supplies, and other items as needed.

• Operate food service equipment safely and appropriately.

• Maintain proper food temperatures and follow procedures for food storage and handling.

• Assist with dishwashing and general kitchen duties.

• Communicate professionally with patients, visitors, nurses, dietary staff, and other healthcare team members.

• Report food service, equipment, or patient concerns to the appropriate supervisor.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

• Previous food service, restaurant, cafeteria, or healthcare food service experience preferred.

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

• Strong customer service and communication skills.

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform routine physical tasks associated with food service.

• Ability to maintain cleanliness, organization, and food-safety standards.

• Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.

• English is required for the role
