Salary: $90,000 - $120,000 Annually

We are seeking an experienced Construction Estimator / Project Manager to oversee the estimating and management of commercial construction projects throughout a 200-mile radius of Abilene, TX.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial construction estimating and project management, with hands-on knowledge of metal stud framing, drywall, ceilings, and Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems (EIFS). This individual should be comfortable reviewing plans and specifications, developing accurate estimates, coordinating subcontractors and vendors, and managing projects from initial estimate through completion.

The position may also take on small General Contractor (GC) projects, requiring the ability to coordinate multiple trades and manage projects from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities

• Estimate commercial construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and other project costs.
• Review construction drawings, plans, specifications, and bid documents to develop accurate and competitive estimates.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and identify project requirements, potential challenges, and scope gaps.
• Prepare detailed proposals and bids for commercial construction projects.
• Develop project budgets, schedules, and timelines.
• Manage projects from the estimating and bidding phase through project completion.
• Coordinate with customers, general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
• Obtain and compare subcontractor and vendor pricing.
• Monitor project costs, schedules, and overall profitability.
• Conduct project site visits and evaluate existing conditions.
• Communicate project expectations, timelines, and changes to customers and project teams.
• Track project progress and address issues that may impact cost, schedule, or quality.
• Assist with change orders, purchase orders, and project documentation.
• Ensure projects are completed according to plans, specifications, budget, and schedule.
• Manage small GC projects as needed, coordinating multiple trades and subcontractors.
• Maintain strong customer relationships and help identify future project opportunities.

Required Experience

• Proven experience in commercial construction estimating and/or project management.
• Strong knowledge of:
  • Metal stud framing
  • Drywall
  • Commercial ceilings
  • Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems (EIFS)
• Ability to accurately read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
• Experience performing material and labor takeoffs.
• Strong understanding of commercial construction methods, materials, and project costs.
• Experience working with subcontractors, vendors, and general contractors.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to travel to project sites within approximately 200 miles of Abilene, TX.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing small GC projects.
• Experience with commercial construction bidding and proposal preparation.
• Experience with construction estimating software.
• Knowledge of local and regional construction costs and subcontractor pricing.
• Established relationships with subcontractors, vendors, or commercial contractors.
• Previous experience in a lead estimator, project manager, superintendent, or similar construction management role.
