As Metal Fabrication / Welder, you will be responsible for welding, fabricating and assembling metal structures, equipment, misc. projects through the use of welding machines, cutting machines, along with measuring and layout tools to produce metal assemblies according to customer specifications in an efficient manner while maintaining safety and quality expectations.

 

We have a position open for a Metal Fabricator/Welder. This full-time position is based in Sturtevant, Wisconsin. The work day is 7:00am-3:30pm, Monday - Friday, with occasional overtime opportunities.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

? Fabricate and assemble custom metal structures using welders, cutters, shapers, and measuring tools.

? Produce custom metal structures according to drawings and specifications, within given timeframes, and according to safety guidelines.

? Use multiple welding and fabrication machines to build, repair and maintain structures of various sizes.

? Read and interpret diagrams, sketches, and blueprints to determine operations, required materials, and timeframes for projects.

? Prepare metal for welding, including grinding.

? Precise layout and jig making.

? Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment.

? Inspect the work area and machines that were used during the day prior to leaving at the end of each shift.

? Adhere to all company, local, state and federal protocol and safety regulations.

? Communicate with other team members and accurately document daily production operations to maintain continuity.

? Accomplish company objectives via accepting responsibilities for completing innovative and new requests while also exploring value adding opportunities.

? Intervene and train if an unsafe practice is observed in the shop by any member of the team.

? General shop tasks as assigned

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

? Experience with TIG and MIG welding.

? Ability to read and interpret a tape measure and shop drawings to build to specifications.

? Hands-on knowledge of a broad range of fabrication methods used in the production of exhibit components

? Experience using electrical and manual tools (saws, squares, calipers, etc).

? Ability to read and understand drawings, blueprints, and diagrams.

? Ability to multi-task, work well under pressure and complete jobs with demanding deadlines while keeping great attention to detail.

? Motivated and high level of initiative; confidence to work independently and with a team in support of project goals and objectives.

? High energy level required with the ability to stand for long periods of time.

? Initiative to seek out any missing information or adapt to changing situations.

? Communication skills to coordinate the movement of build properties between departments prior to need so there is time to plan resources and space.

QUALIFICATIONS

? High School Diploma or equivalent

? Two years of experience in paint mixing and preparation

? Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

? Ability to contribute to system improvement process

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

? Able to stand and work for extended periods of time in various climate conditions

? Able to wear personal protective equipment

? Able to perform manual labor such as reaching overhead, bending, and lifting 50-75 pounds

? Able to perform repetitive movements including twisting, pushing, pulling and grabbing

? Ability to stand on ladders, work at heights, crawl, kneel, bend down, and stretch to apply welds on varying part shapes and sizes

? Able to reliably commute to Sturtevant, WI shop

? Occasionally work non-traditional hours including some nights, weekends, and holidays

? Ability to carry out a series of instructions without constant supervision

? Able to always remain professional and courteous

? Available to occasionally work overtime and weekends.

? Open to potential for travel to supervise installation of displays at domestic show sites.
