Shift & Schedule

• Schedule: Monday to Friday (Full-Time)
• Daily Hours: 11-hour shifts (includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch break = 52.5 paid hours/week)
• Available Shifts:
• Shift A: 6:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Shift B: 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM
• Weekend Work: Optional Saturday shifts available for additional overtime earnings.

Compensation & Earnings Breakdown

• Base Wage: $38.00 – $45.00 / hour (commensurate with qualifications and experience)
• Additional Income: Optional Saturday overtime work available to further increase annual compensation.

Position Overview

We are seeking two skilled and safety-focused 310T / 421A Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic to join our client’s shop team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnostic troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, component overhauls, and emergency roadside repairs across a diverse fleet of heavy equipment and commercial trucks.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnostics & Repair: Troubleshoot, inspect, and repair heavy equipment and commercial fleets, including Caterpillar backhoes, hydraulic excavators, hydrovac trucks, loaders, and dump trucks. Diagnose complex failures in diesel engines, emissions systems (DPF/DEF), transmissions, hydraulic circuits, electrical systems, brakes, and drivetrains.

 

• Preventive Maintenance: Perform scheduled oil changes, fluid flushes, safety inspections, and system checks to maximize operational uptime and fleet life.
• Component Overhaul: Rebuild, overhaul, or replace major machinery assemblies, including engines, transmissions, differentials, final drives, and turbochargers.
• Welding & Fabrication: Perform structural, maintenance, and repair welding on equipment. Design and fabricate custom parts as required.
• Roadside & Field Support: Perform emergency roadside repairs and breakdown troubleshooting safely and efficiently to keep operations running smoothly.
• Equipment Operation: Safely operate heavy machinery (backhoes, loaders, H/D trucks) within shop and yard areas for testing, staging, and diagnostic purposes.
• Documentation & Cleanliness: Maintain detailed maintenance records, work orders, and service logs. Keep shop tools and workspaces clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.

Qualifications & Licensing

• Certification: Valid 310T Truck & Transport Mechanic or 421A Heavy Duty Equipment Technician license (Red Seal certification is an asset).
• Experience Requirements:
• Minimum 3 years of Canadian heavy equipment or fleet maintenance experience preferred.
• Fleet Familiarity: Direct experience working on Caterpillar Backhoes, Hydraulic Excavators, Hydrovac Trucks, and tandem/tri-axle dump trucks (or direct equivalents).
• Technical Skills: Strong proficiency reading hydraulic/electrical schematics, conducting modern electronic diagnostics, performing heavy fabrication/welding, and engine overhauls.
• Driver's License: Valid Ontario Driver’s License with a clean abstract (Class D or AZ license is a strong asset).
