About the Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to lead day-to-day maintenance operations within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

 

This is initially a 4 – 4.5 month contract with strong opportunity to transition into a permanent position based on business requirements and the individual performance.

 

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating all maintenance activities within the laboratory while serving as the primary link between plant management and the maintenance team.

 

This role combines technical knowledge with organizational leadership to ensure equipment reliability, regulatory compliance, maintenance standardization, and continuous improvement of maintenance practices.

 

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for developing maintenance procedures, implementing preventive maintenance strategies, standardizing work instructions, managing critical spare parts, coordinating external contractors, and supporting troubleshooting activities across manufacturing and facility systems.

 

A key objective of this position is to reduce dependency on individual knowledge by establishing sustainable maintenance processes, documentation, and performance monitoring systems that support long-term operational excellence.

.What You'll Be Responsible For

Leadership & Department Coordination

• Act as the primary liaison between Management and Maintenance personnel.
• Coordinate daily maintenance activities and assign priorities.
• Support workforce planning and scheduling.
• Lead departmental meetings and communicate operational priorities.
• Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

 

Maintenance Systems & Planning

• Develop and maintain preventive maintenance programs.
• Define maintenance strategies for all critical equipment.
• Ensure all work orders are properly planned, executed, and documented.
• Maintain equipment history and asset records within the CMMS (or equivalent software tools)
• Monitor maintenance KPIs and identify improvement opportunities.

 

Documentation & Standardization

• Develop and maintain:
  • Maintenance Procedures
  • Work Instructions
  • One Point Lessons
  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Equipment Maintenance Standards
• Establish documentation practices that capture and preserve technical knowledge.

 

Spare Parts & Inventory Management

• Define critical spare parts requirements.
• Establish minimum and maximum inventory levels.
• Monitor spare parts consumption and stock accuracy.
• Standardize spare parts catalogues and supplier information.
• Reduce equipment downtime through effective spare parts planning.

 

Technical Support & Troubleshooting

• Provide technical guidance for mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automation systems.
• Support root cause analysis of equipment failures.
• Coordinate major repairs and equipment upgrades.
• Assist technicians with complex troubleshooting activities.

 

Contractor & Supplier Management

• Coordinate external maintenance providers and contractors.
• Obtain quotations and evaluate supplier performance.
• Support procurement decisions for maintenance-related services and equipment.
• Ensure contractors comply with ZEISS safety and quality standards.

 

Reliability & Continuous Improvement

• Lead root cause failure investigations.
• Implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and maintenance efficiency.
• Support digitalization and continuous improvement initiatives.

 

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Support audits and inspections.
• Maintain calibration and maintenance records.
• Promote safe work practices and risk reduction initiatives.

 

What We're Looking For

Education

• Technical Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.

 

Experience

• Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Previous supervisory, coordination, or team leadership experience preferred.
• Experience with preventive maintenance systems and CMMS software.
• Experience developing procedures, work instructions, and maintenance standards.
