Summary

We are seeking an experienced Quality Control Inspector to perform daily in-process inspections of structural steel fabrication and welding operations. This role will work closely with welders, fabrication personnel, supervisors, and management to ensure fabricated members meet approved drawings, specifications, welding requirements, and company quality standards. Strong structural steel fabrication and welding knowledge is highly valued.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily in-process inspections of structural steel fabrication and welding
• Inspect fit-up, dimensions, orientation, connections, holes, weld preparation, and member identification
• Visually inspect completed welds for quality and compliance
• Verify weld size, length, location, profile, and workmanship
• Identify welding and fabrication issues such as undercut, porosity, overlap, cracks, and excessive reinforcement
• Verify fabrication against approved shop drawings and project requirements
• Identify errors before material moves to the next stage of production
• Document inspection results and maintain accurate QC records using an iPad
• Document nonconforming work and assist with corrective actions and re-inspections
• Communicate quality concerns with shop personnel and supervisors
• Monitor recurring quality issues and communicate trends to management
• Assist with documentation required for the company’s AISC Quality Management System
• Coordinate with third-party inspectors and testing agencies when needed
• Perform other QC duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Previous experience in structural steel fabrication required
• Strong knowledge of welding and fabrication practices
• Ability to read and understand structural steel shop drawings
• Ability to identify dimensional, fit-up, and welding issues
• Strong attention to detail and accurate recordkeeping skills
• Basic computer and tablet skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with shop personnel and supervisors
• Ability to work independently and make sound inspection decisions
• Previous structural steel QC inspection experience preferred
• Knowledge of AWS D1.1 and AISC requirements preferred
• Experience in an AISC-certified fabrication facility preferred
• Experience with digital QC documentation and nonconformance reporting preferred

Location: Pensacola, FL
Position Type: Full-Time
Pay: $25.00–$30.00/hour DOE
Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 6:00am–3:00pm; Friday, 6:00am–12:00pm
