A Metal Fabricator is responsible for cutting, shaping, assembling, and finishing metal products and components according to engineering drawings, blueprints, and customer specifications. The Metal Fabricator operates fabrication equipment, performs welding and fitting tasks, and ensures all finished products meet quality and safety standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and work orders.
Measure, mark, cut, bend, and shape metal materials using fabrication equipment.
Assemble metal components through welding, bolting, riveting, and other fastening methods.
Operate equipment such as shears, press brakes, ironworkers, drills, grinders, saws, and welding machines.
Perform MIG, TIG, and/or Stick welding as required.
Inspect completed work to verify quality, dimensions, and compliance with specifications.
Utilize measuring devices including tape measures, squares, calipers, and micrometers.
Repair and modify metal structures or fabricated products when necessary.
Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA regulations.
Work collaboratively with supervisors, engineers, and production staff to meet project deadlines.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Previous experience in metal fabrication, welding, manufacturing, or a related field preferred.
Ability to read and understand fabrication drawings and blueprints.
Knowledge of metalworking tools, machinery, and welding techniques.
Strong mathematical and measurement skills.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach throughout the workday.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
Ability to work in a manufacturing or shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
Manual dexterity to safely operate hand and power tools.
