Shifts: 5pm - 5am

Position Summary
The Structural Welder is responsible for welding, fabricating, assembling, and repairing structural steel components according to blueprints, drawings, specifications, and safety requirements. The position requires strong knowledge of welding processes, accurate measurements, attention to detail, and the ability to safely operate welding and fabrication equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, drawings, and work instructions.
• Weld structural steel components using MIG, FCAW, SMAW, and/or other approved welding processes.
• Set up and operate welding machines, cutting equipment, grinders, and other fabrication tools.
• Fit, align, and position structural steel components prior to welding.
• Measure and inspect completed work to ensure proper dimensions, alignment, and weld quality.
• Perform grinding, cutting, beveling, drilling, and other metal fabrication activities.
• Inspect welds for cracks, porosity, undercut, incomplete fusion, and other defects.
• Make necessary repairs or adjustments to welds and fabricated components.
• Maintain welding equipment, tools, and work areas in safe operating condition.
• Follow company welding procedures, quality standards, and production requirements.
• Follow all OSHA, company, and job-site safety requirements.
• Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Work safely around heavy equipment, cranes, steel materials, and other industrial machinery.
• Maintain accurate production and inspection records as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Previous experience as a structural welder or structural steel fabricator preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols.
• Knowledge of structural steel welding and fabrication techniques.
• Ability to use measuring tools such as tape measures, squares, levels, and calipers.
• Ability to safely operate welding machines, grinders, plasma cutters, and other fabrication equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy materials as required.
• Ability to work in various positions and environments, including standing, bending,
kneeling, and working at heights when required.
Preferred Certifications
• AWS welding certification preferred.
• OSHA safety training preferred.
• Forklift, crane, or rigging certification is a plus.
• Additional welding certifications based on company or project requirements.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift and move heavy materials and equipment.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and work in confined or elevated areas.
• Ability to work around heat, sparks, fumes, noise, and industrial equipment.
• Must be able to wear required PPE, including welding helmet, gloves, safety glasses,
hearing protection, and protective clothing.
Work Environment
Work is primarily performed in a manufacturing, fabrication shop, construction, or industrial
environment. Employees may be exposed to welding fumes, heat, sparks, loud machinery, dust, and varying weather conditions depending on the work location.
Education and Experience
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Welding certificate or technical training preferred.
• 2+ years of structural welding experience preferred, depending on the position level.
Safety Expectations
The Structural Welder is expected to follow all company safety policies and procedures, properly use PPE, maintain a clean and safe work area, and immediately report unsafe conditions, equipment problems, or injuries to management.
