Structural Welder / Industrial Maintenance Welder

Express Employment Professionals is seeking an experienced Structural Welder for an industrial maintenance position at a coal terminal in Calvert City. We are looking for someone who can assess worn or damaged steel, make sound repairs, and work safely around operating equipment.

This is a hands-on role for a welder who is comfortable working outside a fabrication shop. Projects may involve structural steel, platforms, walkways, supports, chutes, and equipment used to move and handle bulk material. The right candidate will take pride in strong welds, accurate fit-up, and repairs that hold up in a demanding environment.

What you’ll do

• Inspect steel structures and equipment for wear, cracks, damage, or failed welds.

• Prepare material for welding by measuring, marking, cutting, grinding, cleaning, and fitting steel components.

• Perform structural welding and repairs on assigned terminal structures and equipment.

• Repair or replace damaged brackets, supports, guards, handrails, platforms, and similar steel components as directed.

• Read and work from drawings, measurements, and instructions from the maintenance team.

• Select appropriate tools and welding equipment for the assigned work.

• Check fit, alignment, and weld quality throughout a repair.

• Assist with planned maintenance projects and respond to repair needs that affect terminal operations.

• Communicate clearly with maintenance and operations personnel about the work area, equipment status, and repair progress.

• Keep tools and work areas organized and report unsafe conditions or equipment concerns.

What we’re looking for

• Proven structural or industrial welding experience.

• Ability to produce consistent, sound welds on structural steel.

• Strong skills in layout, measurement, cutting, grinding, and fit-up.

• Experience repairing existing steel structures or industrial equipment, in addition to fabricating new parts.

• Ability to recognize when a repair requires additional direction or inspection before work proceeds.

• Comfort working outdoors and around heavy equipment in an active industrial setting.

• Dependable attendance and willingness to work overtime when needed.

Experience with conveyors, bulk material handling equipment, or industrial maintenance is a plus. Please tell us which welding processes you have used and what kinds of structural repairs you have completed.

Safety expectations

Safety is essential at this site. The welder must follow the terminal’s procedures for hot work, fire prevention, equipment isolation, fall protection, and required protective equipment. Welding and cutting near coal dust, conveyors, or other combustible materials require particular care and coordination with the site team.

Steel toe boots are required. Additional protective equipment and site training requirements will be provided during the hiring process.
