CNC Press Brake Operator

Location: Kansas City, KS
Schedule: Monday-Friday

We are hiring an experienced CNC Press Brake Operator for a manufacturing and fabrication operation. This position is responsible for setting up and operating CNC press brake equipment to form sheet metal and plate into precise finished parts.

We're looking for someone who can confidently set up their own jobs, read blueprints, select tooling, make machine adjustments, and inspect finished parts without needing constant direction.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC press brakes to bend and form sheet metal and plate
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, and GD&T callouts
• Select, install, and adjust punches, dies, back gauges, and other tooling
• Program bend sequences, angles, and backgauge positions at the machine
• Load and verify existing machine programs when applicable
• Calculate bend allowances, deductions, and springback compensation
• Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, protractors, angle gauges, and height gauges
• Make adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy and quality
• Meet production expectations while minimizing scrap and rework
• Safely move materials using forklifts, overhead cranes, and other lifting equipment as needed
• Perform routine machine cleaning, lubrication, and basic troubleshooting
• Accurately document production counts and inspection results
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
• Follow all PPE, lockout/tagout, and facility safety procedures

Requirements

• 2+ years of CNC press brake experience in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment
• Must be able to set up and operate a press brake independently
• Strong blueprint and technical drawing reading skills
• Experience working with GD&T
• Strong shop math skills, including fractions, decimals, and angles
• Experience using precision measuring equipment
• Understanding of bend theory and material behavior
• Experience forming materials such as steel, stainless steel, and aluminum
• Ability to troubleshoot setups and make adjustments to produce parts within specification
• High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Experience

• Trumpf press brake experience
• Offline CNC programming experience
• Tandem or robotic press brake experience
• Experience with welding, laser cutting, or other metal fabrication processes

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
• Ability to safely handle larger parts with lifting equipment or assistance
• Comfortable standing, bending, and performing repetitive tasks throughout the shift
• Comfortable working around moving equipment, metal edges, and normal manufacturing noise
• Must wear required PPE, including safety glasses, steel-toe boots, hearing protection, and gloves

This is a hands-on skilled position. Candidates should have actual CNC press brake experience and be comfortable setting up and running equipment, not simply loading and unloading parts.
