CDL-A Driver / Steel Production Laborer

Pay: $15–$17/hr DOE
Hours: Monday–Thursday, 7:00 AM–3:00 PM; Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

A Shreveport steel manufacturing facility is seeking a CDL-A Driver / Steel Production Laborer to join its production team.

This is not a full-time driving position. This employee will be guaranteed approximately 40 hours of work each week, with roughly half of the position consisting of local CDL driving and the remainder working in the steel production facility.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working in an industrial environment and is looking for a position that combines local driving with hands-on production and general labor work.

Responsibilities

• Make local deliveries of fabricated steel and materials to job sites

• Safely secure loads and prepare materials for transportation

• Assist with loading and unloading trucks

• Perform general production and labor duties when not making deliveries

• Move and organize steel and other materials throughout the facility

• Assist production and fabrication personnel as needed

• Operate a forklift to move materials and load or unload trucks

• Use basic hand and power tools as needed

• Maintain an organized shop, yard, and production area

• Assist with shipping and receiving activities

• Follow all DOT, transportation, and facility safety requirements

Requirements

• Valid Class A CDL required

• Acceptable motor vehicle record

• Current DOT medical certification as required for the position

• Previous forklift experience

• Previous manufacturing, production, steel, or industrial experience preferred

• Familiarity with structural steel and common steel materials strongly preferred

• Ability and willingness to perform general labor and production work throughout the majority of the workweek

• Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs.

• Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in an active industrial environment

• Dependable attendance and willingness to assist throughout the facility as needed

Important Position Details

This position is designed for someone who wants steady, full-time hours rather than a driving-only schedule. Approximately 20 hours per week may involve local CDL driving, depending on production and delivery needs. The remaining hours will be spent supporting production, material handling, loading, shipping/receiving, and general operations at the facility.

All driving is local to company job sites. This is not an over-the-road position, and overnight travel is not expected.
