We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Heavy Equipment Operator to join our metal recycling facility team. The ideal candidate will have experience operating heavy equipment in an industrial environment and must have extensive backhoe operating experience. This position is responsible for loading, unloading, sorting, moving, and processing scrap metal materials while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment including backhoes, excavators, loaders, forklifts, material handlers, and other machinery used in scrap metal processing.
• Load, unload, sort, and transport ferrous and non-ferrous metals throughout the facility.
• Feed processing equipment and assist with material handling operations.
• Inspect equipment before and after use and report any maintenance or safety concerns.
• Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and minor repairs on equipment as needed.
• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations.
• Maintain awareness of surroundings and work safely around employees, customers, and equipment.
• Assist with yard cleanup and general facility maintenance.
• Accurately identify and separate different types of recyclable metals.
• Support production goals while maintaining quality and safety standards.
