A Shreveport steel manufacturing and fabrication facility is seeking an experienced Steel Fabrication Drafter / CNC Programmer to support large-scale structural steel projects.
This position works from existing construction and structural blueprints to develop the fabrication information needed by the production floor. The ideal candidate has previous experience in steel fabrication or structural steel manufacturing and understands how a set of drawings translates into individual components that can actually be manufactured.
Read and interpret construction, structural, and fabrication blueprints
Develop detailed fabrication drawings from existing project plans
Create material and component lists for production
Translate drawings and specifications into information used by fabrication equipment
Program CNC and other automated fabrication machinery as required
Ensure dimensions, materials, and components are accurately represented before release to production
Coordinate with project management and production personnel to clarify drawings and fabrication requirements
Maintain accurate drawings and production documentation throughout the drafting process
Previous steel fabrication or structural steel experience required
Strong blueprint and fabrication drawing reading skills
Experience creating or working from detailed fabrication drawings
Experience programming CNC or automated fabrication equipment strongly preferred
Working knowledge of structural steel materials and profiles, including beams, plate, flat bar, angle, channel, and related materials
Ability to understand how structural drawings translate into manufactured steel components
Strong attention to detail and measurement accuracy
CAD/CAM, drafting, CNC programming, or related fabrication software experience preferred
