JOB DESCRIPTION

Express Employment Professionals is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to support daily kitchen operations and meal preparation. This position is responsible for preparing high-quality meals and ingredients, maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen, and ensuring food is prepared according to established menu and quality standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare meals and ingredients according to menu instructions.
  • Wash, peel, cut, and slice fruits and vegetables.
  • Trim, cut, and marinate meats.
  • Prepare soups, salads, and sauces using available ingredients while minimizing waste.
  • Ensure cooking stations are properly prepared and stocked before service.
  • Clean and sanitize cooking and food preparation stations before and after service.
  • Follow food safety and sanitation procedures to prevent foodborne illness and cross-contamination.
  • Maintain food quality, presentation, and portion-control standards.
  • Properly cover, date, label, and store leftovers.
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized kitchen.
  • Provide courteous and friendly service to residents and guests.
  • Work well under pressure and as part of a team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous professional cooking experience is required.
  • Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and kitchen safety.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team.
  • Dependable and able to report to work on time.
  • Flexible and able to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to remain on your feet and moving throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to repeatedly carry trays weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
