A Tube Bender sets up, programs, and operates manual, hydraulic, or computerized machinery to shape metal tubing, rods, and bars to exact specifications

 

Key Responsibilities
  • Blueprint Reading: Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and work orders to determine dimensions, bend angles, and tolerances. [1, 2, 3]
  • Quality Control: Inspect finished parts using precision tools like calipers, micrometers, height gauges, or a CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine). [1, 2, 3]
  • Tooling & Maintenance: Install dies, punches, and mandrels; perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment. [1, 2, 3]
  • Material Preparation: Flare, deburr, trim, or cut metal components prior to welding or final assembly. [1, 2]

 

  • Experience: 2 to 5 years of hands-on metal forming or CNC machining experience in a manufacturing or aerospace environment.
  • Technical Skills: Basic understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and applied trigonometry/math.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, perform physical bending movements, and lift materials (typically up to 25–50 lbs)
