We have an opening for a Quality Lab Inspector position working at an automotive seat manufacturer located in Athens, AL. This is an evaluation-to-hire opportunity with potential for full-time placement.

 

*** A MINIMUM OF (2) YEARS EXPERIENCE IN QUALITY INSPECTION IS REQUIRED ***

 

Skills/Qualifications

Experience with measurement/inspection tools (steel scale, digital caliper, digital micrometer, torque wrench, etc.) is required.

Experience with Quality Control Techniques such as Statistical Process Control (SPC), Gage R&R or Six Sigma is a plus.

Experience in using a Faro Portable CMM machine is a plus.

Blueprint reading with knowledge about Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD & T) tolerances.

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Must be capable of working an entire work week on a consistent basis.

Ability to work for extended periods of overtime, as required.

Punctuality and dependability.

 

Duties/Responsibilities

The inspector will operate in the Quality Laboratory and is responsible for inspecting product to ensure it meets customer specifications.

Inspection includes measurement of seats in special fixture gauges, use of steel scales, digital calipers, and micrometers for dimensional measurement.

Responsible for meeting plant targets for safety, quality, efficiency, and cost reduction.

Inspects and approves product by confirming specifications, conducting dimensional measurements, and rejecting product which does meet requirements.

Documents inspection results by completing reports, logs, and entering data into a quality database.

Maintains measurement equipment by following operating instructions and calibration requirements and requesting necessary repairs in a timely manner.

Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following company standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.

Complete all working documentation, records, and reports as requested.

Understands and follows all SAIA policies and procedures.

Remains proactive and reactive to resolve abnormalities in the process.

Uses key performance indicators as a method of continuous improvement.

Performs other duties as requested.
