Express Employment Professionals of Bradenton, FL is currently hiring for a Legal Assistant position for a Law Firm that focused on Bankruptcy based in Manatee County, FL
Duties:
- Provide administrative and legal support to bankruptcy attorneys and the legal team.
- Conduct initial client intake and collect information and documentation required for bankruptcy matters.
- Communicate professionally with clients regarding case status, required documents, appointments, and deadlines.
- Review client-provided financial information and documents for completeness and consistency.
- Assist with preparation of bankruptcy petitions, schedules, statements, creditor information, and related documents under attorney supervision.
- Organize and maintain electronic and physical bankruptcy case files.
- Assist with preparation and electronic filing of documents with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court.
- Track court dates, filing deadlines, hearings, meetings of creditors, and other case-related deadlines.
- Assist attorneys with preparation for hearings, meetings of creditors, and other bankruptcy proceedings.
- Communicate with clients, creditors, trustees, opposing counsel, court personnel, and other parties as directed.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous legal assistant, bankruptcy assistant, paralegal, or law-office experience preferred.
- Bilingual Preferred but NOT required.
- Familiarity with Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy procedures is a plus.
- Experience with bankruptcy law or bankruptcy case management is a must.
- Strong understanding of legal terminology and professional correspondence.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
- Familiarity with bankruptcy schedules and statements.
- Experience preparing or assisting with bankruptcy petitions.
- Familiarity with Meetings of Creditors/341 meetings.
- Familiarity with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court electronic filing process.
