CNC Machinist - 2nd Shift

Located in Berlin, CT

Salary: $25/hr-$28/hr DOE

WHAT YOU'LL DO
¦ Set up, operate, and adjust CNC mills, lathes, and grinders to produce complex aerospace and commercial components to exact specifications
¦ Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T callouts to plan setups and machining sequences
¦ Perform precision grinding operations (surface, OD/ID, and cylindrical) on custom tooling and close-tolerance parts
¦ Hold tight tolerances, often within ±0.0005" or tighter, and maintain required surface finishes
¦ Edit G-code and M-code at the machine, set work and tool offsets, and optimize cycle times without sacrificing quality
¦ Conduct first-article and in-process inspections using micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, indicators, and other precision instruments
¦ Complete quality documentation accurately in accordance with the shop's quality system and customer requirements
¦ Monitor tool wear, select appropriate tooling and workholding, and troubleshoot machining issues as they arise
¦ Perform routine machine maintenance and keep a clean, safe, organized work area
¦ Partner with programmers, quality, and leadership to solve problems and improve processes

 

WHAT YOU BRING
¦ 3+ years of hands-on CNC machining experience in a precision manufacturing environment
¦ Strong blueprint reading skills and working knowledge of GD&T
¦ Confidence independently setting up and running CNC equipment (Fanuc, Haas, Mazak, Okuma, or similar controls)
¦ Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and inspection techniques
¦ Solid shop math, including trigonometry, and a sharp eye for detail
¦ High school diploma or GED; technical or machining certification is a plus
¦ Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs

Schedule is Monday through Friday. 2nd shift with training on 1st shift. $25/hr-$28/hr with a 10% shift differential.
