Position Summary

Express Employment Professionals is seeking a highly skilled Dimensional Inspection Technician to support quality assurance and manufacturing operations through advanced dimensional inspection and metrology activities. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with 3D measurement technologies, CAD-to-part comparison, and the interpretation of engineering specifications within a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive.

This role is responsible for performing precise dimensional inspections, analyzing measurement data, generating technical reports, and collaborating with Quality, Engineering, and Production teams to ensure products meet all customer and engineering requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform dimensional inspections of production and prototype components using advanced metrology equipment.
• Operate and program 3D scanning systems, laser trackers, Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), and other inspection equipment.
• Utilize PolyWorks or equivalent metrology software to process measurement data, conduct CAD comparisons, and generate inspection reports.
• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, dimensional tolerances, and GD&T requirements.
• Establish and verify alignments, coordinate systems, datums, and measurement references for inspection activities.
• Analyze dimensional data and identify deviations from engineering requirements.
• Create and maintain detailed inspection records, technical reports, and quality documentation.
• Support root cause analysis and corrective actions related to dimensional nonconformances.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Production teams to resolve dimensional and quality issues.
• Ensure all inspection activities comply with customer, internal quality, and regulatory requirements.
• Assist with equipment setup, calibration verification, and routine maintenance activities.

Required Qualifications

• Technical education in Metrology, Quality Technology, Mechanical Technology, Mechatronics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Experience performing dimensional inspection in a manufacturing environment; automotive industry experience preferred.

• Strong understanding of engineering drawings and dimensional tolerances.

• Working knowledge of GD&T principles, including datums, position tolerances, and alignment methodologies.

• Experience with PolyWorks or equivalent metrology software.

• Hands-on experience operating:- 3D Scanners

  • Laser Trackers
  • Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM)

• Understanding of coordinate systems, alignments, and measurement data comparison against CAD models.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and technical documentation management.

• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow established procedures.

• Effective written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Leica laser tracking systems.
• Experience with Keyence scanning and measurement equipment.
• Prior experience supporting automotive manufacturing, tooling, assemblies, or prototype validation programs.
• Familiarity with quality standards and continuous improvement methodologies.
