The role
We're looking for a hands-on Yard Supervisor to run daily yard operations. You'll lead a crew of about 20, keep material moving safely and efficiently, and make sure every shift starts on time and ends with the work done.

 

What you'll do

• Supervise, schedule and direct a yard crew of about 20
• Plan the daily workflow for incoming loads, sorting, processing, stockpiles and outbound material
• Coordinate with the scale house, dispatch and drivers to keep trucks moving and cut down wait times
• Enforce safety rules, PPE use and good housekeeping across the yard
• Work with equipment operators so excavators, wheel loaders and forklifts are used where they're needed most
• Report equipment problems and maintenance needs quickly so machines don't sit idle
• Train new crew members and hold the team accountable for attendance, pace and quality
• Keep simple daily records such as crew attendance, incidents and production notes, and report to management

What we're looking for

• Experience in waste management, recycling, C&D or a similar industrial yard (required)
• Proven experience supervising a crew of 15 or more
• Fluent in English and Spanish (required)
• A working knowledge of heavy equipment, including excavators, wheel loaders and forklifts. You don't need to operate them, but you should understand how they work and how material moves so you can direct the work well.
• Very organized and punctual, with a strong sense of timing and priorities in a fast-moving yard
• A team player who leads by example and earns respect on the ground
• Comfortable working outdoors in an active industrial setting

Nice to have

• Military background or veteran status
• OSHA 10 or 30 certification
• Familiarity with CalRecycle or other regulatory recordkeeping
