Industrial Material Handler

Full-Time | Mon-Fri 5:30 AM-2 PM

Pay: $25+ DOE

Our client is seeking an experienced Loader I to join our team in Tualatin. This is a higher-level metal yard worker position responsible for safely and accurately loading outgoing shipments, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring all documentation is complete and correct.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience operating knowledge of steel products, shipping procedures, inventory control, and forklift operations, with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently load and unload flatbed trucks, trailers, and shipments without direct supervision.
• Operate forklifts, extended boom lifts, overhead cranes and other industrial material handling equipment in a safe and productive manner.
• Verify and process shipping documentation, receiving paperwork, bills of lading, and related documents.
• Identify and handle various steel products including pipe, tube, structural steel, and component parts. These parts could be 60 ft long steel beams, all product will be oblong and non-traditional size.
• Interpret bills of material, work orders, receiving/shipping paperwork, and customer specifications.
• Ensure materials are properly staged, labeled, and loaded according to shipment requirements.
• Perform quality checks on outgoing materials to ensure order accuracy and product integrity.
• Be able to load oblong steel materials onto a flatbed truck.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Assist with receiving, unloading, and warehouse organization as needed.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in shipping, loading, or material handling is required.
• Experience in the lumber or steel/metal industry is highly encouraged.
• Proven Boom Lift and Overhead Crane experience with the ability to operate independently and safely.
• Ability to use a iPad to receive products and review daily schedule and work orders.
• Extensive knowledge of steel products, including:
• Structural steel
• Pipe
• Tube
• Component parts
• Ability to identify structural shapes, sizes, grades, and weights.
• Ability to use a tape measure and accurately measure and do simple division to mark material accordingly.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the steel, metal fabrication, or manufacturing industry.
• Overhead crane experience.
• Boom lift and industrial forklift experience
• Knowledge of warehouse inventory systems and shipping software.
