Independent Living Coordinator – Direct Hire

$40,000–$45,000/year | Full-Time | Direct Hire

 

Schedule: Approximately 1:00 PM–9:00 PM, with some weekends

 

 

A local residential youth organization is seeking a compassionate and motivated Independent Living Coordinator to join their team. This is a Direct Hire opportunity, meaning the selected candidate will be hired directly by the organization.

This position combines youth mentoring, life-skills development, case coordination, and direct residential support. The ideal candidate will enjoy working directly with youth and helping them develop the practical skills, confidence, and resources needed to successfully transition into adulthood.

Responsibilities

• Teach independent living skills including budgeting, cooking, employment readiness, transportation, and household management
• Develop and monitor individualized Independent Living Plans
• Mentor youth and support them in achieving personal, educational, and career goals
• Help youth build practical skills related to employment, financial responsibility, and independent adulthood
• Work alongside residential care staff to reinforce life skills through everyday activities
• Provide direct supervision and support during assigned shifts
• Maintain accurate documentation and progress records
• Collaborate with schools, caseworkers, community partners, and other members of the youth's support team
• Assist with programs and activities designed to prepare youth for greater independence

Schedule

• Full-time
• Typical hours are approximately 1:00 PM–9:00 PM
• Some weekend availability is required based on youth programming and residential needs
• Schedule may vary slightly depending on program needs

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience working with youth required
• Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Education, or a related field preferred; relevant experience may be considered
• Experience with foster care, residential programs, behavioral health, education, or similar youth-focused environments preferred
• Must have valid driver's license
• Strong communication, mentoring, and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational and documentation skills
• Ability to establish appropriate professional boundaries while building positive relationships with youth
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a residential care team
• Valid driver's license required
• Ability to successfully complete required background checks
