Express Employment Professionals is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician for a multi-property building maintenance role supporting residential and commercial properties on Chicago's South Side, including the Bronzeville area.

 

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM
Location: Bronzeville / South Side Chicago
Transportation: Reliable transportation is required to travel between properties

Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of building systems, equipment, and property grounds. This position works closely with management, contractors, and vendors to ensure facilities remain safe, functional, and well-maintained.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Repair, install, and maintain doors, locks, and related hardware
• Perform minor repairs on appliances, furniture, and fixtures
• Patch, repair, and paint drywall as needed
• Complete basic electrical, plumbing, and carpentry repairs
• Inspect and clean roof systems, gutters, and downspouts
• Assist with scheduling and coordinating building inspections
• Supervise vendors and contractors performing maintenance work
• Assist in planning and prioritizing maintenance projects
• Coordinate with property management and contractors on remodeling and repair projects
• Help ensure buildings remain in compliance with applicable codes and regulations
• Respond to emergency maintenance situations when required
• Recommend solutions for major maintenance concerns
• Follow established safety procedures and policies
• Order and obtain maintenance supplies and materials
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• 2-5 years of maintenance, facilities, property management, or related experience preferred
• Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, drywall, painting, and carpentry
• Ability to interpret building codes and regulatory requirements
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
• Experience coordinating vendors and contractors is a plus
• Must be flexible to assist with occasional emergency calls outside of normal working hours

Requirements

• Reliable transportation and valid driver's license
• Ability to travel between multiple South Side properties
• Ability to lift, carry, and move maintenance materials and equipment
• Must be comfortable working indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions
