Painting and Stain Finishing Laborer

Salary: Up to $25.00/hour

A growing Milwaukee company is looking for a Finishing Laborer who restores, refinishes, and enhances the appearance and durability of indoor furniture using painting, staining, and protective coatings.

  Key Responsibilities

• Assessment & Planning: Evaluate furniture condition, identify repair needs, and plan the restoration or refinishing process 
• Surface Preparation: Sand, strip, and clean surfaces; repair cracks, scratches, or broken parts; fill imperfections 
• Application of Finishes: Apply paint, stain, varnish, lacquer, or oil using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment, ensuring even coverage and smooth texture 
• Decorative Touches: Add stencils, hand-painted details, or distressing effects as requested 
• Finishing & Protection: Polish, wax, or apply clear coats to protect the finish and enhance shine 
• Client Communication: Discuss preferences, provide updates, and ensure the final product meets expectations 
• Proficiency in painting, staining, and clear-coating techniques.

• Knowledge of furniture styles, wood types, and color theory.
• Ability to work with various surfaces (wood, metal, veneer).
• Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship.
• Experience with power and hand tools.
• Understanding of safety regulations and proper material handling 

Typical Work Environment

• Indoor settings such as residential interiors, offices, or commercial spaces.
• May work independently or as part of a design/refinish team.

Projects can range from full restoration of antique pieces to modern refinishing of new furniture
