Express Employment is hiring Steel Tackers to start work in Meridian, MS!

Job Responsibilities

• Read and interpret welding symbols, shop drawings, and structural blueprints to determine correct layout, dimensions, and assembly sequences.
• Align, position, and fit heavy structural steel components (beams, columns, plates, and trusses) using clamps, jigs, fixtures, and hand tools prior to final welding.
• Apply small, precise tack welds (typically GMAW/MIG or SMAW/Stick) to temporarily hold steel parts in rigid, accurate alignment without distorting or warping the material.
• Measure assembled components using tape measures, framing squares, levels, and calipers to ensure strict adherence to dimensional tolerances and AISC standards.
• Clean, grind, and surface-prep joint areas by removing rust, scale, slag, or debris to ensure clean tack welds and optimal fit-up for final production welders.
• Operate heavy material-handling tools (overhead cranes, rigging, hoists) and personal protective equipment in compliance with OSHA guidelines and shop safety protocols.

Job Requirements

• Those that can read a tape measure are highly encouraged to apply.
• High school diploma or similar. 
• Excellent stamina, strength, and dexterity.
• Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.
• A willingness to learn and work overtime.
