Material Handler/Kitter/Forklift Driver

Salary: $19.00-$20.00/hour

Material Handler Job Summary:

A Grand Rapids-area manufacturer is looking for a Material Handler to join their team. This is a very hands-on, physical position working directly on the manufacturing floor. The Material Handler will move parts and materials throughout the facility, build and stage kits for production, operate a hilo, and make sure production has the materials they need throughout the day.

This is an active position where you will be on your feet and moving for most of the shift. The job involves frequent lifting of parts and boxes weighing up to 50 lbs. throughout the day. The right person will enjoy staying busy, working with their hands, and being part of a team where everyone is willing to jump in and help.

Material Handler Responsibilities:

• Move, stage, and deliver materials throughout the manufacturing facility
• Pick and assemble material kits for production
• Load and unload parts and materials as needed
• Operate a hilo/forklift to move material throughout the facility
• Frequently lift and carry boxes and parts weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Supply production areas with the materials needed to keep work moving
• Return unused materials and parts to the correct inventory locations
• Help maintain organized racks, bins, and material storage areas
• Verify materials against work orders, pick lists, and production needs
• Assist with inventory counts and material location accuracy
• Use scanners and computer systems as needed to track material movement
• Help identify missing, incorrect, or misplaced material
• Keep work areas clean, safe, and organized
• Travel between two nearby company facilities as needed
• Assist with additional warehouse, inventory, and production support duties as needed

Schedule and Pay:

• 1st shift, 6:00am-2:20pm Mon-Fri (OT as needed)
• $19.00-$20.00/HR

Material Handler Qualifications:

• Previous warehouse, material handling, shipping/receiving, inventory, kitting, or manufacturing experience preferred
• Previous hilo/forklift experience
• Comfortable performing frequent physical work throughout the shift
• Ability to regularly lift and move up to 50 lbs.
• Able to stay busy and work at a steady pace throughout the day
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Comfortable following work orders, pick lists, and material instructions
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn inventory systems
• Team-oriented attitude and willingness to help wherever needed
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong attendance and punctuality
• Reliable transportation and ability to travel between company facilities
• High school diploma or GED required
