Manufacturing Supervisor

Located in Grand Rapids, MI

Salary: $75,000-$80,000/year

Manufacturing Supervisor Job Summary:

Responsible for directing manufacturing operations to achieve on-time orders and production requirements.  Supervises one or more departments or areas, managing Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Efficiency. Supervises, plans, and monitors Production Department operations to produce quality products and meet schedules, within budget, to customer-driven specifications

 

Manufacturing Supervisor Responsibilities:

• Leads and develops high-performance teams and cross-departmental, cross-functional improvement teams.
• Actively supports corporate participative management strategies and programs as they relate to department personnel and client/customer relations.
• Consistently acts and behaves in a manner that supports high-performance, team-based organization, effectively working to manage safety, quality, schedule, cost, and culture.
• Sets daily/weekly/monthly objectives and communicates them to employees within assigned department.
• Uses lean concepts to reduce waste within their departments and improve efficiency.
• Consistently addresses customer concerns promptly by executing containment measures, driving to root cause, and implementing corrective and preventive actions to minimize or eliminate recurrence.
• Monitors employee work for quality and quantity, providing feedback and coaching as needed.
• Assists in procedure revisions to improve efficiency and quality.
• Enforces company work rules and policies effectively

• Assist in training new employees on how to operate machines

Manufacturing Supervisor Qualifications and Skills Required:

• Must have a background in Welding, cold saw, flat laser, and tube benders
• Previous experience in welding manufacturing a PLUS
• Associate's degree in Manufacturing or experience related to the field
• Minimum 2-4 years in a supervisory/leadership role
• Experience working in a union environment is a PLUS
• Knowledge of lean tools and the ability to lead the team in utilizing lean methodologies.
• Administer discipline/coaching in conjunction with the Human Resources Dept.
• Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, including conflict resolution skills.
• Attend production meetings as needed
• Strong organizational skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel.
• General business knowledge of planning, scheduling, finance, and human resources.
• Knowledge of manufacturing, machinery, and products.
• Knowledge of safety requirements and general laws.
• Familiarity with MRP systems.

Pay and Schedule:

$75,000-$80,000 a year, overtime after 45Hrs

1st shift, Monday-Friday 5:00 am-1:30 pm, overtime as needed
