Process / Mechanical Engineer

Location: Cambridge, ON
Job Type: Full-Time

 

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for new and existing parts.
• Review customer drawings and develop machining strategies, setup documentation, and process plans.
• Support CNC programming, tooling selection, feeds/speeds optimization, machine setups, trials, and process validation.
• Develop and maintain setup sheets, work instructions, routings, BOMs, and other technical documentation.
• Lead process improvement initiatives focused on cycle time, workflow, tooling performance, and machine capability.
• Support capital equipment projects, including equipment evaluations, commissioning, tooling upgrades, and optimization.
• Assist with the implementation of a new ERP system, including routing, BOMs, process flows, and production requirements.
• Support Controlled Goods and AS9100D certification initiatives and maintain engineering documentation.
• Work closely with Production, Quality Assurance, Sales, and Management to improve processes and evaluate new business opportunities.
• Provide technical support and training to operators and team members on new processes, tooling, and best practices.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and identify practical engineering solutions.
• Support company goals related to safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience with manufacturing and machining processes.
• CNC programming and process engineering experience.
• Strong understanding of tooling selection and feeds/speeds optimization.
• Hands-on mechanical aptitude with experience supporting machine setups and troubleshooting.
• Experience with ERP systems; ERP implementation experience is an asset.
• Gear cutting, gear manufacturing, or grinding experience is a strong asset.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 is an asset.
• Exposure to Controlled Goods and AS9100D requirements is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and solve technical problems.
• Strong teamwork, training, and interpersonal skills.
