Position Summary

The Human Resources (HR) Manager is responsible for overseeing all human resource functions within the organization, ensuring compliance with employment laws and company policies while supporting the company's operational and strategic objectives. This position manages the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, benefits administration, employee relations, workplace safety programs, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Recruitment and Staffing

  • Manage all aspects of the hiring process, including workforce planning, recruiting, screening, interviewing, and selection.
  • Receive, review, maintain, and process employment applications.
  • Determine essential job qualifications and basic job skills required for employment, including reliability, attendance, aptitude, and physical or technical requirements.
  • Establish and conduct interviews with applicants.
  • Coordinate and formalize employment offers, including compensation and onboarding documentation.
  • Maintain recruiting records and employment files.

Employee Onboarding and Training

  • Administer new employee orientation and initial training programs.
  • Coordinate onboarding activities to ensure successful integration of new hires.
  • Assist supervisors and managers in identifying employee training and development needs.
  • Develop and facilitate training programs related to company policies, procedures, and performance management.

Employee Relations and Performance Management

  • Counsel employees regarding job performance, workplace issues, conflict resolution, professional development, and personal concerns impacting work performance.
  • Assist employees with career development planning and growth opportunities.
  • Administer the employee performance review process.
  • Train supervisors and team leaders on performance evaluation procedures and best practices.
  • Review performance evaluations to ensure consistency and fairness across departments.
  • Partner with managers to address performance concerns and corrective action plans.

Employee Discipline and Termination

  • Investigate employee conduct issues and policy violations.
  • Administer corrective actions and disciplinary procedures in accordance with company policy and applicable laws.
  • Provide guidance to management on employee relations matters.
  • Manage employee separations, dismissals, and termination processes while minimizing organizational risk.

Benefits Administration

  • Administer employee benefits programs and eligibility requirements.
  • Conduct benefits enrollment and review processes.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefit inquiries.
  • Coordinate with benefit providers and third-party administrators to resolve issues and maintain compliance.

Workers' Compensation, Leave Management, and Safety Programs

  • Administer the Workers' Compensation program, including claim reporting, case management, and return-to-work coordination.
  • Classify and manage work-related injuries under Workers' Compensation and non-Workers' Compensation guidelines.
  • Maintain injury records and coordinate with medical providers, insurance carriers, and management.
  • Administer Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) programs and related leave policies.
  • Coordinate and oversee company drug and alcohol testing programs.

Unemployment and Regulatory Compliance

  • Administer unemployment claims and coordinate responses to state agencies.
  • Serve as the company liaison with governmental agencies regarding employment and labor law requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations, including equal employment opportunity and labor standards requirements.
  • Maintain required employment records and prepare reports as necessary.

Leadership and Strategic Support

  • Serve as a member of the management team and provide HR guidance to leadership.
  • Recommend improvements to HR systems, policies, and programs.
  • Monitor workplace trends and best practices to support organizational effectiveness.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, safety, respect, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive Human Resources experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, workers' compensation, FMLA, and performance management processes.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Thorough knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations.
  • Strong interviewing, recruiting, and talent assessment skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, coaching, and conflict-resolution abilities.
  • Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
