About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Coatings Engineer with knowledge of vacuum metallizing and robotic spray painting. Qualified candidates will have a bachelor's degree in engineering, 2+ years of on-the-job training and experience in engineering or a related field, and be fluent in English.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate new-model development by determining specifications needed for production in order to meet customer requirements for new models.

• Implement process improvement projects to increase production profitability.

• Participate in process improvement efforts by troubleshooting and developing countermeasures to improve production.

• Participate in new-model development, including drawing review, start-up, tooling design, process development, robot programming, and process confirmation to create a competitive advantage.

• Participate in capital investment planning involving testing, new equipment purchases, and installation.

• Support production customers in a JIT manufacturing environment.

• Assist with cost reduction by monitoring raw material usage and reject reduction rates to improve cost-effectiveness.

• Provide technical support to production, process, and maintenance groups to reduce downtime and increase productivity.

• Support manufacturing by addressing problem-solving issues and developing improvement ideas to achieve maximum production efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering

• 2+ years of engineering experience; automotive background preferred

• Fluent in English

• Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems

• Familiarity with robots and PLCs is a plus

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, budgets, and deadlines

• Demonstrated knowledge of AutoCAD, Inventor, and/or CATIA

• Demonstrated written and oral communication skills

• Demonstrated analytical ability

• Proven multitasking skills

Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications are preferred but not required to get started:

• Knowledge of PLC programming for troubleshooting purposes

• Demonstrated knowledge of vacuum metallizing and robotic spray painting

Working Conditions

• General office environment: approximately 3 hours per day

• Manufacturing environment: approximately 5 hours per day

• Occasional overnight travel may be required to perform essential functions at remote locations or receive training.

• Overtime may be required, including unplanned and unscheduled overtime, to meet customer deadlines and requirements.
