Medical Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Assistant to join a growing healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive support across various medical settings, including outpatient clinics, hospital medicine, urgent care, and specialty areas such as dermatology and geriatrics. This role involves direct patient care, administrative management, and clinical procedures to ensure high-quality service delivery. The Medical Assistant will play a vital part in facilitating efficient clinic operations, maintaining accurate medical records, and supporting patient well-being through compassionate care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with patient intake by collecting medical histories, vital signs, and documenting symptoms accurately
- Prepare examination rooms and ensure all necessary supplies and equipment are ready for provider use
- Perform clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, medication administration, and basic life support procedures
- Support documentation of medical encounters using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and EMR/EHR platforms
- Manage medical records, including filing, retrieving, and updating patient information in compliance with privacy regulations
- Assist providers with procedures in various specialties including dermatology, emergency medicine, inpatient care, and outpatient clinics
- Support hospital medicine teams by understanding physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, ICD coding, and medical terminology
- Facilitate patient education on medications, treatment plans, and health maintenance strategies
- Ensure accurate recording of vital signs and assist with clinical assessments related to trauma or specialized units such as PICU or Geriatrics
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment adhering to safety standards
Experience
Candidates should possess a minimum of two years of relevant experience in medical assisting within diverse healthcare environments. Experience in hospital settings—particularly Level I or Level II trauma centers—is highly desirable. Prior involvement in outpatient clinics or specialty practices such as dermatology or geriatrics will be considered an asset. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for electronic health records management is essential.
Additional qualifications include:
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Proven ability to perform phlebotomy and medication administration accurately
- Knowledge of ICD coding, medical documentation standards, and medical terminology
- Experience working with electronic health records systems across inpatient and outpatient settings
- Strong understanding of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical assisting protocols
- Ability to adapt quickly to different clinical environments including emergency medicine or OR settings
- Excellent communication skills to provide patient service across diverse populations
