We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Weld Operator to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing various welding operations to fabricate, assemble, and repair metal components with precision and efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, proficiency in multiple welding techniques, and the ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics. Pay Rate: $19/hour - $20/hour (based on experience)
Shifts: Days 7am - 3:15pm, Afternoon 3pm - 11:15pm, Nights 11pm - 7:15am. (must be flexible to work all shifts)
Duties
- Set up welding equipment including MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), and plasma cutting tools according to project specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine weld locations, angles, and procedures.
- Perform welding operations on various materials such as steel, ductwork, and other metals using appropriate techniques.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, calipers, and machining equipment to prepare materials for welding and assembly.
- Conduct rigging and mechanical tasks such as lifting heavy components with cranes or forklifts to facilitate fabrication.
- Operate press brake machines for bending metal sheets as required for assembly.
- Use basic math skills for measurements and calculations necessary for precise fabrication.
- Inspect completed welds for quality assurance using visual checks and tools like calipers; ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Assist in the assembly of manufactured parts, ensuring proper fit and finish according to schematics.
- Maintain a clean work environment by organizing tools and materials; adhere strictly to safety protocols.
Experience
- Proven experience in welding within manufacturing or construction environments, with a strong emphasis on MIG and TIG welding techniques.
- Mechanical knowledge related to rigging, machining, blueprint reading, and schematic interpretation.
- Familiarity with using hand tools, power tools, calipers, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and other fabrication equipment.
- Prior experience operating cranes or forklifts is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of ductwork fabrication or construction experience is a plus.
- Basic math skills necessary for measurements and calculations during fabrication processes.
- Ability to read technical schematics accurately and follow detailed instructions.
- Demonstrated ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high-quality standards.
