Warehouse Associate / NON-DRIVER

Position Summary

The Warehouse Associate I is responsible for efficiently and accurately filling customer orders; receiving, stocking, staging, and shipping material; and maintaining the branch warehouse environment and equipment. This position performs warehouse transactions in accordance with company standards for safety, security, accuracy, and productivity.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Contribute to a culture focused on employee safety and maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Follow established Standard Operating Procedures and Environmental Health and Safety rules.
  • Immediately report and address safety concerns.
  • Receive material delivered by vendors, customers, or other warehouses.
  • Verify the quantity and description of received materials by comparing merchandise against the packing list.
  • Stock incoming orders in an orderly manner on shelves and in designated areas.
  • Report freight damage claims.
  • Prepare branch orders from the warehouse.
  • Verify that the correct quantity and type of product are prepared for shipment.
  • Process shipment paperwork, including:
    • Verifying merchandise to be shipped.
    • Applying the correct postage, tape, and labels.
    • Following customer shipping instructions.
    • Insuring shipments when necessary.
  • Operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts, reach trucks, and wire-cutting machines, when required.
  • Load common carrier and company vehicles.
  • Inspect equipment and perform minor maintenance as needed.
  • Perform inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Support other branch functions, including counter sales and customer support, as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • No prior experience required.
  • Prior warehouse experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • General knowledge of electrical products preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and customers.
  • Ability to address basic issues and problems.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations accurately.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize job tasks and requirements.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Basic computer skills.
